The morning of 20 October was a beautiful, sunny morning.  It was the day of our seventh annual Chiltern Choir’s festival. Singers flocked to Chinnor from all parts (including the Chilterns!):

                                      Accord Abingdon Community Choir

                                      All Voices Allowed, Great Missenden

                                      Hill Top Villages, Cholesbury

                                      Maidenhead Synagogue Choir

Singing in the Sticks from Garsington

                                      Singing Women from Oxford

                                      Singing in the Vale, Dinton

                                      Sounds Fun from Oxford

                                      Village Voices Towersey

                                      Windsor Soundswell

We started the day with physical and vocal warm ups. We learnt some great songs all taught by ear. Lunch was taken mostly in the grounds of the school in warm sunshine.

In the afternoon we had to choose a workshop. The choices were:

•Janet led meditative songs and chants from the Taize tradition including the beautiful Bleibet hier

•Bruce led a fun song from Samoa roughly translated as  “Come on lets sing , dance,  clap,  laugh,

•Roger led the beautiful Appalachian spiritual Bright morning star

•Emily taught a song Mystery by Nkomo.

Tea and cake followed. Each workshop presented their song to the whole festival. We finished by singing through the songs from the morning.

We had a lovely day and went home exhausted. And the sun was still shining!
